Hydrochloric Acid Storage Tank Linings

Blair Rubber is an industry leader in rubber liners for hydrochloric corrosion mitigation. We put a premium on quality when constructing our rubber liners that will last even against harsh chemicals like HCL acid.

Hydrochloric Acid (HCL) is a highly corrosive acid. The commercial “concentrated” or fuming acid contains 38% hydrogen chloride. U. S. P. grades range from 28 to 38%, with 37% HCl being most common. Blair Rubber is an expert in designing and deploying rubber linings for hydrochloric acid storage tanks.

For the protection of storage tanks and containers, natural rubber linings have been used to protect steel from hydrochloric acid during containment. HCL reacts with the rubber hydrocarbon to create an impermeable membrane. This process takes approximately three months in concentrated hydrochloric acid, making natural rubber a great HCL lining.

Linings for HCL containment can last 7 to 24+ years depending on factors, such as lining durometer selection and environmental variables. Our Marflex™ PG70, used exclusively for HCL service, has lasted longer than 25 years in varying conditions.
